The DSA & ORDIT

At Expressway all driving instructor training in Preston and Blackpool is conducted in accordance with the ORDIT terms and conditions. The ADI Trainers at Expressway Driving Instructor Training in Preston and Blackpool are all ORDIT registered and have agreed to abide by both the DSA and ORDIT code of conduct.

DSA - THE DRIVING STANDARDS AGENCY

One of the roles of the Driving Standards Agency is to set an acceptable safe standard to all road users whether or not they are on two, four or even ten wheels. This acceptable standard is achieved and maintained by important roles played by Approved Driving Instructors, Driving Instructor Trainers and Driving Examiners working together as a team to achieve this aim.

The DSA also provide help and guidance with learning resources in driver education, they register and supervise Approved Driving Instructors, ADI Trainers, Driving Instructor Training Centres and Driving Examiners and provide effective and efficient assessments in the form of computer based theory tests and practical tests.

ORDIT – THE OFFICIAL REGISTER OF DRIVING INSTRUCTOR TRAINERS

Following discussions between the Driving Standards Agency and representatives from the Driver Training Industry it was agreed that both the ADI Trainers and also the general public's best interest would be best served by having a single register of qualified and inspected ADI Trainers and Driving Instructor Training Establishments. This register is called ORDIT, which stands for The Official Register Of Driving Instructor Trainers.

To have the Driving Instructor Training Centre and the ADI Trainers names entered onto the ORDIT Register it involves undergoing very thorough inspections both of the Driving Instructor Training Centre and of the ADI Trainers, these inspections are carried out by very experienced Supervising Examiners from the DSA on behalf of ORDIT. These Supervising Examiners are often the same examiners that conduct the practical ADI tests known as Part 2 and Part 3.

Expressway Driving Instructor Training Centre is on the ORDIT Register and our belief is that sometime in the near future it will become law that only Ordit Registered ADI Trainers will be allowed to conduct driving instructor training to people wishing to become approved driving instructors. There is now an increasing number of learner driving instructors advertising that they conduct driving instructor training courses, there is also a lot of national driving instructor training groups continuously advertising everywhere they can. Your job is to sift through all this advertising and for you to find a genuine ADI Trainer who for a reasonable fee can train you to become an excellent approved driving instructor.

Please be aware that just like in any other industry there are people out there who are more interested in getting your money rather than you becoming an approved driving instructor. You need to follow your instincts and if you feel that the people you are talking to are inexperienced driving instructor trainers or they are not willing or not able to give you genuine testimonials from people that they have trained that are now working under their own names, or maybe they seem more interested in you signing on the dotted line and handing over all your training fees etc etc .... You should follow your instincts !!!!

You would be wise to read our page on this website titled " Be Aware!" This page gives you advice about what to be aware of before signing any contracts or paying out any money for a driving instructor training course.
